Jets part ways with Culina

The Newcastle Jets have parted ways with coach Branko Culina after terminating his contract effective immediately.

It was strange timing as earlier in the day Culina was at the official launch of the A-League, with all the current A-League coaches in attendance and was very optimistic about the season ahead.

There seems to be an issue with Jason Culina and his contract as the Socceroo was brought in by his father as the Marquee signing for the Jets. It now appears the board will try get rid of the younger Culina as well, as it is thought they feel Jason knew the extent of his season ending knee injury before he signed for the club.

Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said, “The decision to terminate the contracts was made after a long deliberation by the Newcastle Jets’ Advisory Board. The Club believes that it is highly unlikely that Jason will return to the A-League in the near future, following medical advice,” he added according to foxsports.

Current National Youth League coach Craig Deans will prepare the team for Saturday's opening round against Melbourne Heart at Ausgrid Stadium.
