Arsenal lose Per Mertesacker for a month

Arsenal have been dealt a blow with big German defender Per Mertesacker out with injury for at least a month.

eThe giant defenderis out for a month with an ankle ligament problem and has flown home to Germany for more scans.

Mertesacker, 27, will meet with the German national team doctor in Munich, the Gunners will now use Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen in central defence again for the Champions League clash with AC Milan.
